KsysLegal was set up by a number of IT professionals who have been employed for many years in the legal sector, working for some of the largest and most progressive firms. Over this time we gained significant experience of most of the leading Case Management Systems first hand, as well as acquiring a good understanding of what drives firms and what was needed to meet the challenges of the marketplace. This has given us a unique insight and appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of the products on the market. We felt we could bring something new to the market by working with Legis Systems, which we regarded as the best of breed in terms of CMS, to produce an innovative and intuitive solution, which would stand out against the competition in terms of functionality and ease of use.

Legis Systems has been around for many years, selling to some of the biggest names in the market place. However, they could see the benefits this new arrangement could bring to both businesses. The result of this 2 year collaboration was LegisSQL2, which is now being used by several thousand users around the UK.

We are convinced that Case Management Systems can greatly increase profitability of legal firms, probably more so than any other area of IT save e-mail, which is embedded into most CMS's anyway. However purchasing a CMS alone does not guarantee success. Too many systems have been installed over the years, which do not give a reasonable return on investment (ROI); largely because they have been installed by IT companies who do not have a clear understanding of what or how they can deliver real benefit.

Case Management is far more than just putting together a few intelligent documents. It is also vitally important that you do not simply put in a CMS without reviewing your business processes. Whether you do this utilising your own resource, or with the assistance from a third party. We know of so many firms that have invested in CMS and have been disappointed in the poor return. At a seminar a couple of years ago a leading and respected Legal insider proudly stated that firms can no longer expect to gain an advantage on their competitors simply by installing a CMS, since most already have a CMS. We do not believe this is the case. The successful firms are those that have implemented CMS properly and applied real thought to how the CMS will be incorporated into business processes, if necessary by re-engineering their working processes to best affect.

The Future

We believe we have created, through the collaboration with Legis Systems over the last two years, by far the best CMS on the market. We also believe, with the full features available in the LegisSQL product, together with KsysLegal's knowledge and breadth of experience, that we are uniquely positioned in the market place.

We do not intend to become the market leader, if that will turn us into box shifters and take away what makes us different; but with our unique breadth and depth of experience, and our focus, we do intend to be a significant player, with an excellent reputation and be recognised for delivering quality solutions that maximises your ROI and stand the test of time. We have people within our business that have experience of running large IT departments; Process designers with proven track records; and Developers who have experience of working in the largest law firms in the country. We know instinctively what works and what doesn't.
